DOT MATRIX DRUG MESSAGE
Shibuya backstreet bonus! Gusto and I were walking around in the freezing cold last night, listlessly going from combini to combini, when we heard some familiar jelly bean crushing sounds, coming from the street speakers of an "English Pub". 'Twas none other than "I'm Bad" by LL COOL J, from the early Def Jam days. 'Twas also the only music I enjoyed the entire night. We stood around for it's entirety (even though Gusto confessed he was never down with the shouting era of rap). Got me hyped for another "Tougher than leather" screening. Here's the clip, check LL's wacky running style during the intro. He's bad. Also mega-noteworthy is LL's rage, around the 0:27 point. Oh! And don't miss the tender homie wardrobe change at 1:58. E-Love in the house!
Fun fact: I learnt to dance from this clip!

ARKS YOURSELF!
Man I love this clip. Starring DJ Pooh as the Mack! And also a solid contribution from Slick K2S (who we knew already from Hype mag). It's from Ice Cubes 1990 album, AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted. Back in year 9 or 10 of highschool, it was hard to find west coast graffiti, so whenever Rage had a rap special, I'd be holding out for this one... My favourite of the 3 Macks varies, currently it stands at Mack#3, the hot tub club Mack. I love his Mack dance, with the swinging arms, and then when he goes buck wild!
"I Love you baby, you're the only one for me baby, it's destiny baby, together forever baby, what'd you say your name was, baby?"

STOP THE PRESS!
i never knew that my fave 4th grade film, THRASHIN', was called SKATE GANG in France. Whoa...
I wouldn't have picked that shot for the cover, either... Those joust pillow weapons never seemed legit, even to me at age 11. I did however love the film, but loved it even more when the Bones Brigade dissed it in Animal Chin.
I was already down with Brolin from his role in Goonies, and just pretended this was Goonies PII.

i missed the movie, i missed the track:
not usually one to be boosting de la, there are enough festival crowds to do that - but this is a certified chronic must hear! off the joes apartment movie soundtrack. the break is firecracker by yellow magic orchestra, which seems to give some influence to the d-mob ACIEEED track posted a little ways below. intriguing!

always liked this one too, guesting on a jungle brothers track with q-tip:
